Chateau Le Rey les Rocheuses 2021

Chateau Le Rey les Rocheuses 2021

93 Points - James Suckling. From pure limestone soils in Sainte-Colombe, this is a bright, mineral-driven Right Bank Bordeaux. Juicy red berries, dark cherries and a hint of spice unfold on the palate, supported by fine tannins and a fresh, mouth-watering finish. Pure, precise, and effortlessly drinkable — a true terroir expression with a Burgundy-inspired touch.

Vivino Rating: 4.0 (Jun 2025)

Wine Press Ratings

93 Points - James Suckling (2021 Vintage)

91 Points - Jeff Leve (2021 Vintage)

"Orange rind, dried flowers, coffee bean, licorice and red fruits are all over the place here in the nose and on the soft, fresh, elegant, vibrant palate, that delivers a refreshing sprig of mint and a salty edge to the fruits on the backend. This will be fabulous on release! Drink from 2024-2032."

91 Points - Falstaff (2021 Vintage)

"Deep garnet, purple edge to rim. Fine black berry fruit, ripe plums, delicate herbal savouriness, chalky, limestone freshness. Taut, lively structure, red berry nuances, ripe tannins, salty finish; a versatile food companion."

91 Points - Jane Anson (2021 Vintage)

About the Producer

Château Le Rey is a 12-hectare estate set on clay-limestone soils in Sainte-Colombe, east of Saint-Émilion. With roots dating back to the Louis XIII era, the property combines rich history with modern precision. Since 2016, it has been owned by Peter Kwok, Philippe Lambrecht, and Jean-Christophe Meyrou, who share a passion for terroir-focused winemaking.

The vineyard, with 30-year-old vines, is farmed sustainably to preserve its environmental balance. Château Le Rey produces two distinct cuvées: Les Argileuses from clay soils and Les Rocheuses from pure limestone — reflecting a Burgundian approach to Bordeaux, where site defines style.
