Clos la Coutale Cahors Malbec 2023

Clos la Coutale Cahors Malbec 2023

Cahors, in the South West of France is the ancestral home of Malbec, where in its French form, it is a more savoury, dark skinned & brooding variety that its Argentinian cousin. Perfected over the centuries, Clos la Coutale is a blend of Malbec (85%) and Merlot (15%) with an averageĀ yield of 45 hl which allows consistent quality and maturity each year. Matured in barrels and wooden casks for one year to obtain a good balance between tannins and fruit, this isĀ a rustic, medium to full-bodied wine which combines elegance and rusticity in one.

About the Producer

Handed down over 6 generations, the 100 hectares of vines of Clos la Coutale are located in the heart of theĀ meanderingĀ River Lot on alluvial soils composed of gravel and clay-limestone silica. Protected from the extreme cold with a southwest exposure, this land is particularly suitable for vine growing.
